Our Statement of Faith
The Bible
We believe in every word of the Old and New Testaments and that God inspired humans to
write it without error. The Bible is the Word of God. It is the standard of faith as well as the
absolute truth for every aspect in a believer's life.
God
We believe in the one true and eternal God, the Creator of everything. There is one God
existent in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Each person is equal but
has a different role, working together to bring man from sin to receive salvation.
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who was supernaturally conceived through the
power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Whilst on earth, Jesus was both perfectly
God and perfectly man at the same time, and was without sin. He was crucified on the cross
to save mankind from sin and physically rose from the dead on the third day to fulfil the will of
the Father to provide salvation from sin to each person who believes in Him. He ascended
physically to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. One day in the future, He
will come again a second time to establish His Kingdom.
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God who convicts people of sin and draws them to become
born again. He dwells within believers to enable them to lead holy lives. Also, He helps
believers live in obedience to His will and serve the Body of Christ using the gifts He has
given them. We believe that each gift of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Bible is still active in
the Church today and should be developed to build up the Body. The baptism of the Holy
Spirit, an experience separate from being born again, gives Christians power to witness.
Speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit enables is the initial sign of being baptised in the Holy
Spirit. In the Christian life, every believer must live in obedience to Christ and be under the
covering of the Holy Spirit. Christians should always be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Angels and Evil Spirits
We believe God created many angels. These angels were created without sin but one of them
named Lucifer intentionally sinned and was then called Satan. Some of the other angels
followed him and became fallen angels. Satan rules in this sinful world and endeavours to
destroy God’s plan and man’s life. However, he does not have power over God and will
ultimately be destroyed one day.
Man
We believe that the first couple was sinless, but they intentionally sinned, causing all humans
to fall under the power of sin. For this reason, it is necessary for every person to receive
salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. Without salvation, a person will receive the
penalty of eternal destruction in hell.
Salvation
We believe that a person can be saved only when he or she trusts in Jesus Christ and His
salvation from sin. Salvation is given by the grace of God and not because of one's own
works. True confession, faith and trust in Christ will lead to repentance from sin. At the point
of salvation, an individual becomes a new creation in Christ and will be gradually transformed
to become more like Him.
The Church
We believe in the worldwide (universal) Church, which is made up of all those who trust in
Christ throughout every age. In the same way, we believe local churches which are made up
of believers who meet together regularly in different areas to worship God, hear His word,
fellowship, witness, participate in communion and pray, amongst other activities. We believe
that every Christian should be a member of a local church.
Baptism and Communion
We believe that baptism is the complete immersion of a person completely in water as a
symbol of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Those receiving baptism must be born
again Christians who have put their trust in the Lord Jesus. Communion is a ceremony to
remember the death of Jesus. It is to be celebrated often, when believers gather together,
until Jesus returns.
Worship Service
We believe that Christians must worship the Lord in spirit and in truth. Worship is
acknowledging the worthiness of God and opening our hearts to relate with God. Worshipping
according to Biblical patterns enables us to use outward expressions to come close to God.
Some of these patterns include worshipping with other Christians, using musical instruments,
singing, and using the gifts of the Holy Spirit during worship times.
Healing
We believe it is God's normal intention to heal Christians who have sicknesses or diseases
except at times when God allows them to leave this world to be with Him. The Church must
follow Jesus’ command to heal the sick through prayer and to minister to them through the
miraculous power of God. We do not reject medicines or procedures from medical science,
nor do we believe that God always heals the sick immediately. We acknowledge that at times
He has a purpose in healing people gradually.
Eternal Judgment
We believe that every person will rise from the dead on the final day. Believers will live with
God in heaven and will be eternally blessed. Those who do not believe in Jesus will be judged
and receive eternal punishment in hell.
